Rangamati Sadar Upazila (rangamati district)
with an area of 546.49 sq km, is bounded by
naniarchar upazila on the north, kaptai and
belaichhari upazilas on the south, barkal
and juraichhari upazilas on the east and
kawkhali upazila (Rangamati). kaptai lake
took the one-third area of the upazila.
Rangamati (Town) a municipal town, consists
of 9 wards and 35 mahallas. The area of the
town is 64.75 sq km. The town has a
population of 65294; male 57.68%, female
42.32%. Density of population is 1008 per sq
km. Literacy rate among the town people is
60.8%. The town has one dakbungalow.
Administration Rangamati thana was turned
into an upazila in 1983. It consists of 9
union parishads, 45 mouzas and 171 villages.
